Field Devices - Input and Output Devices at the Foundation of the BMS
HVAC can account for 40% of energy costs in a building. Efficient, smart buildings start at the foundation of the BMS with control devices that help monitor, regulate, and decrease a facility's energy use, and provide alerts to potential problems and dangerous system conditions.
Schneider Electric Field Devices are the foundation of the company’s EcoStruxure™ Building Operation and EcoStruxure Building Expert solutions. They enable efficiency and contribute to the overall value of these Buildings Management System (BMS). If measurement of control at the Field Device Level is not happening, the Buildings Management System is not performing at its most efficient and optimal level.

Schneider Electric Field Devices and Services lines of business are pleased to announce their new collaborative white paper, "Valves and Actuators: Maintaining the Foundation of High Performance Buildings."
This paper explores valves and actuators as the unsung and unseen heroes of building management systems that control a large amount of the 35% of energy used in a building's HVAC system, yet these devices are routinely ignored when it comes to system maintenance.
The paper further explains how time and money can be saved through a proactive, predictive maintenance program for valves and actuators.

In today’s commercial buildings, installing an effective WAGES (water, air, gas, electricity, steam) metering system can be a source of substantial energy and cost savings. This white paper examines WAGES metering as the essential first step toward a comprehensive energy management strategy. Best practices for selecting meters, and identifying metering points are described. In addition, metrics for measuring gains in energy efficiency are explained.
